FREQUENT QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

We provide answers to the most frequently asked questions about our services and design process. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

1 | When should I hire an interior designer?

Clients should engage a designer before or around the same time as hiring an architect, builder, or general contractor to ensure design decisions are made in harmony with construction plans.

2 | What are the main phases of an interior design project?

1. Discovery/Programming: Define goals, budget, and timeline.
2. Concept Development: Mood boards, color palettes, schematic layouts.
3. Design Development: Refined floor plans, material selections, detailed drawings.
4. Documentation & Procurement: Construction specs, purchasing, order placement.
5. Installation & Styling: On-site coordination, furniture setup, styling touches.

3 | How long will the project take?

Typical timelines range from 6–12 weeks for a single room to 3–6 months for a full-home project, depending on scope, permitting, and procurement lead times.

4 | How much do interior design services cost?

Fees vary widely:
• Hourly: $100–$250/hr
• Flat/e-Design packages: $500–$5,000 per room
• Percentage of project cost: 10–25%

5 | What is full-service design versus e-design?

Full service covers everything from concept through installation, including procurement and contractor coordination. e-Design (online) typically offers concept boards, shopping lists, and remote support at a lower flat fee.

6 | How do I set and stick to a realistic budget?

Designers often guide clients through cost-breakdowns—construction, furnishings, labor—and advise on where to splurge or save. A clear budget upfront prevents overruns.

7 | How should I prepare for the initial consultation?

Gather inspiration (photos, Pinterest boards), measurements, existing floor plans, and a preliminary budget to make the most of your meeting.

8 | How involved will I need to be?

That’s up to you - some clients prefer a hands-on approach, reviewing every decision, while others entrust the designer fully. Discuss your preferred level of involvement during the kickoff.

9 | What deliverables will I receive?

Expect mood boards, color palettes, floor plans, elevations, finish schedules, furniture specifications, and often 3D renderings—depending on your agreement.

10 | Do you offer custom furniture or finishes?

Yes - options include custom upholstery, cabinetry, drapery, and case goods. Ready-made items can also be integrated to suit budget and timeline.

11 | Can I change my mind after ordering a custom piece?

Custom orders are generally non-cancelable once placed (restocking fees apply to stock items). Confirm details before ordering to avoid fees of 15–35%

12 | What happens if the project scope changes?

Designers typically issue change orders outlining cost and time impacts. Always review and approve in writing to keep the project on track.
